This park is a go-to spot for wildlife enthusiasts and because of a huge number of tourists, this new zone has been made in the park. Let’s know the full details about the newly opened zone of this park.

The Kota Tourist Zone

Name: The new zone of Jim Corbett National Park is named Kota Tourist Zone because it is situated in the Kota Range of the Forest Division. This new zone has been inaugurated within the Ramnagar Forest Division in Jim Corbett Park.

Location: This zone is right next to Sitabani Zone and the gate to enter the Kota Tourist Zone is Bhandarpani Gate. It covers a large area of 26 km and it is made to enhance the wildlife viewing experience.

Popularity: The Kota Zone was officially inaugurated on March 22, but because the model code of conduct was in force it was a low-key affair. Despite being a subdued event, it has gained popularity among tourists in a short period. Till now, more than 6000 tourists have already visited this zone and they enjoyed coming here a lot, said the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Diganth Nayak. He further added that a lot of work still remains to be done in this zone.

Feature: The prime feature of this zone is its animal sightings. Because of the water body, many animals have been spotted in this zone. This zone offers enhanced habitat for majestic tigers, elusive leopards, and elephants with its man-made water bodies.

Attraction: One thing that makes this zone different is that it has artificially created water bodies that animals are extensively using. These water bodies are indicating a positive impact on the local wildlife and their natural behaviors within this newly developed area.

Rules: Being a part of the Corbett landscape renowned for its majestic tigers, elusive leopards, and elephants, this area also has the same rules and safety measures that are made for other zones of the park.

46 Gypsies Banned in Jim Corbett National Park

Some jeep safari drivers violated the prescribed rules and regulations of Jungle Safaris in Jim Corbett National Park. In turn, the forest officials have banned 46 gypsies for 7 to 15 days. The administration has made certain rules so that animals would not be disturbed, but if drivers do not follow the rules, they have to take action against them.

Many people visit Jim Corbett National Park every year to enjoy a safari. By going on safari they get the precious chance to see the wild animals and their behaviors in their homes. But because of safaris, many animals get disturbed and they do not behave naturally. In turn, the guests don’t get to see the original behaviors of animals in their habitat. Now, the forest officials have banned 46 gypsies for 15 days on Wednesday.

The State Department officials said that some of the gypsy drivers had not followed the rules for the past 2 months. Some of them did not follow the prescribed rules and tried to enter the prohibited area of the forest. While some of them were not following the prescribed speed of the vehicle. Because of this, the animals were getting disturbed and then the officials banned those gypsies from entering the park for 15 days.

The warden of Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve Amit Gwasakoti said that there were complaints about some vehicles that were not following the rules. To prevent the violation of prescribed rules, GPS systems were installed in 350 jeeps that offer the safari to various tourists. Out of them, 46 jeeps had violated the rules and regulations in the past two months. The vehicles were found to be over-speeding and they have been banned for 7 to 15 days. He added, “We would cancel the license if they were found to be speeding again”. The speed limit of a vehicle inside the park is 20 km per hour.

Gypsies Were Causing Threats

As per the forest officials, they were getting complaints about some gypsies that the drivers were not following the rules and regulations. Many complaints were given to them saying that the drivers did not follow the safari speed limits and also tried to enter the prohibited area to show some particular species. According to wildlife experts, some things badly affect wildlife such as overcrowding and extreme honking of vehicles, off-road driving, etc. They said that the natural behavior of animals gets disturbed because of these things and the habitat can be damaged. To prevent the damage, officials used GPS to monitor these things and banned 46 gypsies who did not follow the rules.
