Jim Corbett National Park is a nice place in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand which is the best destination to spend time for nature lovers as well as wildlife lovers. People who like to spend their time doing adventurous things should visit Corbett National Park. This wildlife spot covers an area of 520 sq. km and is divided into 7 zones. The names of the 7 zones are Bijrani, Dhikala, Jhirna, Dhela, Durgadevi, Garjia and Sitabani. The peak season for tourism here is from November to June and during that time around 70 thousand tourists every year come from all over the world. 

This Jim Corbett National Park was the very first wildlife reserve which was established back in 1936. The name of this reserve was Ramganga National Park, but then it was renamed Jim Corbett National Park after the famous hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett. The project tiger originated with Jim Corbett and this park is one of the 9 Tiger Reserves in the country. It’s a tiger reserve so of course stars of the show are Royal Bengal Tigers, but apart from them you can find various animals here such as Elephant, Chital, Sambar, Nilgai, Gharial, King Cobra, Wild Boar, Thorny Wild Rat, Flying Fox and Indian Chameleon with many more. Furthermore, there are over 600 species of avifauna in Jim Corbett National Park. 

When to Visit the Famous Jim Corbett?

The peak time of tourism in the park is from November to June as it remains open for tourism during these months only. Yes, the park remains open only from November to June, after that monsoon comes, and it brings heavy rainfall during this time. Due to rain the paths of the park become sloppy and it gets difficult to arrange gypsy safari rides, also it’s a breeding time for some animals so because of all this the park remains closed from July to mid-October. 

How Can You Get to the Park?  

So the question that might be arising in your mind is How can you reach Jim Corbett National Park? – So, this park is close to Ramnagar. Ramnagar is connected to various cities of Uttarakhand by road and also to other cities of the country like Moradabad, Bareilly, and Delhi. There are many buses available from these cities to reach Ramnagar, after coming to Ramnagar, you can reach the park very easily by taking local transport. The distance between Delhi to Jim Corbett Park is around 260km and it will take around 5 to 6 hours to cover this distance, depending upon traffic and the speed of the vehicle.  

Ramnagar is also well connected by rail to Delhi and other cities. After reaching Ramnagar station, one can take a cab or any other transport to reach the park. People can also find a direct train from Delhi to Haldwani or Kathgodam, which are other nearby stations to Jim Corbett National Park.  

If you’re coming by air, then come to Delhi airport, after reaching there you can easily find a taxi, cab, or bus to reach Ramnagar. You can also come to Dehradun airport to reach Jim Corbett National Park.
