Zones of Jim Corbett 

There are a total of eight zones in Jim Corbett National Park for experiencing different types of safaris. These zones include the Dhikala Zone, Bijrani Zone, Jhirna Zone, Garjia Zone, Sitabani Zone, Phato Zone, Dhela Zone, and Durga Devi Zone. People can enjoy safari rides in the morning as well as evening. People can choose the time according to their schedule. Below, we provide details about each zone to help you make an informed decision for your safari adventure.

Dhikala Zone

People can enjoy safari in this zone from 15 November to 15 June. This one is considered the biggest zone in this park with a huge grassland. This zone is home to many prey animals such as Hog Deer, Barking deer, Spotted deer, wild boars, etc. Tigers like to pay a visit here because of these prey animals. Don’t get amazed if you spot a tiger chasing a deer in this big area. Other animals that can be found in this zone include Elephants, Leopards, Crocodiles, and many different birds. There is also a watch tower in this huge grassland area from which you can get great views of the Ramganga riverbed. Furthermore, there is a crocodile pool. You can see marsh crocodiles along with gharials and Muggers in the pool. This zone is the best option for those who want animal sightings along with scenic beauty.

Bijrani Zone

People can enjoy safari in this zone from 15 October to 30 June. People book safaris for this zone because of its scenic views. There is a large grassland area in this zone with thick sal forests. Tigers can be spotted here very easily. You can get some good pictures of beautiful birds if you choose this zone. Birds can be found here near the water streams. Nature lovers should also consider this because it has a lot of flowering plants with other flora species.  

Jhirna Zone

This is the only zone in Jim Corbett National Park which is open throughout the year. This is the reason behind its popularity as people can come here at any time of the year. People don’t need to care about the holidays, timings etc to visit this zone. Sighting of animals such as wild bears, jackals, tuskers, elephants, sambar, species of deer, and birds like hornbill, woodpecker, owl, eagle, etc. are common here.   

Garjia Zone

People can explore this zone from November 15 to June 30. This area also has another name, locals call it the Ringora Zone. With dense forest and natural beauty, this zone is the most picturesque part of the jungle and it’s a very cool and calm place. Tigers can be seen here roaming freely. 

Sitabani Zone

You can visit here at any time of the year and enjoy a gypsy safari ride in this zone. This is the buffer area of the park with river streams and old temples. If you want, you can pay a visit here in your vehicle, you don’t have to book a safari to enjoy a ride here. Elephants, deer, sambars, Nilgai, and other herbivore animals can be seen here. If you’re coming to Jim Corbett for spotting of tiger or leopard then don’t choose this zone because they cannot be seen here. Other than that, tourists can enjoy an elephant safari in this beautiful zone. This zone is considered the safest in Jim Corbett National Park.    

Phato Zone

This zone is the prettiest and people feel very calm and happy after coming here. Being here makes people full of enthusiasm and good vibes. It can be a good choice for people who want to have fun in the park. This Phato zone is the tenth area in Jim Corbett National Park and there are lots of wild animals here, and it’s quite easy to see tigers.  

Dhela Zone

The Dhela zone is mostly open for visiting but because of bad weather, it can be closed sometimes. This one is the newest zone that was opened in 2014 and here you can see lots of trees like Sal, Haldu, Bahera, Rohini, and Kusum. These trees add to the beauty of this zone with lots of birds sitting on them. In Corbett’s 75 years of history, this was the only zone where once  7 tigers were spotted at the same time while enjoying Jim Corbett Safari. Tourists can enjoy watching animals from a watchtower if they choose this zone. 

Durga Devi Zone

This zone remains open for tourism from November 15 to June 15 every year. Doing a safari here will be best for nature enthusiasts because this zone is full of hills. There is a Domunda Bridge in this area of the park where animals like tigers, leopards, wild elephants, and otters can be seen. This zone is good for birdwatchers because the Gray Headed Fishing Eagle, Maroon Oriole, Black-chinned Yuhina, Long-Tailed Broadbill, Slaty Blue Flycatcher, Bar-Tailed Tree Creeper, and others can be seen here.
